Gina Driver is a professional artist from Oxfordshire specializing in portraiture and equestrian subjects. She has been working as an artist over the past 5 years, in which time she has been both commissioned and has had work exhibited in art galleries across Oxfordshire including Abingdon and the City of Oxford.

She works predominately in oils, however she also uses a variety of other mediums these being pencil, charcoal, and acrylics. She has always had a great interest in art and art history and studied A-level art and design
to A grade.

Wholly self taught she is influenced and inspired by the Renaissance Art of Italy and The Seventeenth Century Dutch Masters. Michelangelo, Caravaggio and Vermeer being amongst these. Contemporary inspiration comes from Nelson Shanks and other realist artists. Also the schools in Florence who continue to classically train their students teaching the traditional techniques of The Old Master Painters.

Although she is often commissioned to paint from photos, she still believes life drawing is fundamental to improving her work because it helps dramatically with the understanding of form and anatomy.

As well as portraiture and equestrian she also enjoys painting seascapes inspired by the Pembrokeshire coast. These allow her great freedom to explore colour and texture and to achieve vibrant and dramatic paintings with an emphasis on the effects of light. These paintings depict the wild and ever changing sea and sky and are influenced by the works of Turner.

Her most recent commission was a portrait of
Professor C.W. Trowbridge O.B.E.

She is continuing to work on her current portrait commissions as well as other paintings for local galleries. She has just taken part in Oxford Artweeks in a group exhibition, receiving further commissions for
her work.
